Profile grooving

At MAUTH | TELA, profile grooving is not a single insert, but a coordinated system of holder, form insert and application.
Only the precise interaction of all components enables stable, low-vibration processes, short machining times and reproducible quality – on multi-spindle lathes as well as CNC turning machines, even in tight spaces and with demanding geometries.

Our custom form grooving inserts and turning inserts deliver clear benefits on multi-spindle automatic lathes as well as modern CNC turning machines. Machining times can be reduced by up to 80% – while increasing quality and lowering unit costs.

Our range includes:
  • single-edge indexable form inserts, 9–33 mm width
  • three-edge indexable form inserts, 3–11 mm width
  • double-edge special profiles up to 4 mm width, if required
With indexing accuracy below 0.01 mm and outstanding regrind repeatability, our form grooving inserts provide uncompromising precision for fast, economical and reproducible production processes.

Process reliability is created in the holder. Our holder systems are precisely matched to the form grooving inserts and, thanks to short, rigid designs and defined insert seats, deliver low-vibration, smooth cutting – even with narrow profiles and deep plunges.

Targeted internal coolant supply directs coolant straight to the cutting edge. This reduces heat build-up, improves chip evacuation and significantly increases tool life. Inserts can be changed quickly without readjustment – ideal for multi-spindle and CNC machines.

In addition to classic form grooving, we offer a dedicated form plate system with a variable drilling system.
This allows form plates to be positioned precisely at different angles and fixed securely. Even complex geometries can therefore be produced accurately, efficiently and with high repeatability.

The well-engineered drilling system enables fast, simple plate changes and ensures a defined cutting edge position in the process. This minimizes setup times and significantly increases process reliability.
